Celebrating being part of something bigger
My recent thoughts have turned to how we thrive as humans when we belong to something more than us. These few weeks have seen our Crimson business celebrate their 20th anniversary by joining together as teams and racing between our European offices and back to the UK. I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of this and clocking up the Kilometres with members of the ExCo. We are at the back of the pack but despite my competitive inclination this really has been about the taking part. Thanks Crimson for laying this on, it’s been a lot of fun.
In our Tech Recruitment business we launched the Harvey Nash World Games and over three weeks we have raced against each other’s teams to get the most kilometres on foot, running, bike or swimming. Partnering with GoJoe we have had so much fun and I haven’t laughed so much in a long while. It’s been a source of fun in some of our business review meetings when you end the conversation discussing where their relevant team is in the rankings. The race is currently hotly contested by Belgium and the Netherlands teams. Our colleagues in Vietnam, Singapore and Japan in NashTech asked to join the party a week into the challenge and I know as part of Team Ireland that we feel the breath of Team Vietnam on our necks.
These team challenges have brought us together across the world in the spirit of fun and togetherness. Being part of something bigger than our role, our team, our Country is really unifying and connecting us.
This week as we have had a number of business and team review meetings and I have been struck by just how far we have come in the way we naturally reach out to each other across services and geographies to support our clients needs. Great examples from the Netherlands in offering to set up and lead a UK based procurement event along the lines of the highly successful annual events in the Netherlands.
In return they asked the UK teams to help them establish a SME focused growth strategy in the Netherlands which is a key strength for the UK. In Australia our Alumni, NashTech and Tech Recruitment senior teams have been introducing each other to client opportunities and sharing market intelligence to increase growth in this important part of the world for the Harvey Nash Group. In the Tech recruitment US business they have opened up opportunities for our NashTech business. Our Crimson and NashTech businesses are jointly working on client projects and opportunities. In NashTech they have opened up one of their largest clients to Alumni, Crimson and now to Tech Recruitment.
Being part of something bigger than just us has really caught on and it’s all down to you. It’s exciting to see just how far we have come. We are on a journey together and having fun along the way.
As the weekend comes towards us take time to rest and relax and keep safe and well.
