Life, and learning
I have been wondering about all the new skills we are learning during this period of lockdown. Many of us have attended online classes run by Uhubs, led by our own people as well as external guests sharing their expert knowledge.
Then there is the learning we have done for ourselves, drawing on our resilience to get ourselves, our teams and often our families through difficult times in this pandemic. Many of us have learnt to overcome challenges, building on strengths we may not have realised we had. When we are challenged by life, it is in these moments that we really understand what we are capable of.
It occurred to me that we should make sure we consolidate this learning, to take it with us on the journey. Taking a pause in life to reflect back on what we have been through, what we have learnt so far, and making that part of who we are and who we continue to be.
I know of people who have learnt new languages, taken up running and cycling, learnt to code, read poetry, taught their children to ride a bike for the first time.
All of these experiences are adding to our lessons from life and enabling us to be even stronger. We can know for sure that life will continue to challenge us, that we will have difficult moments alongside joyous ones too. The certainty we can have from all we have learnt in these past months is that we can and will learn to adapt to whatever challenges we have ahead of us.
I wish everyone a restful weekend ahead. Keep safe and well.
